Pencil Grips and Dyslexia

January 3, 2012

There are many different symptoms of dyslexia, and these symptoms may change as a person grows from a child to an adult. One symptom that seems to remain the same, until children are about high school age, is pencil grip. Many people who have dyslexia hold their pencil in a fist-like grip. The thumb sometimes curls over the other fingers. This grip can appear awkward or uncomfortable.

Looking for signs of dyslexia can help a child get a head start at beating the condition. A specific pencil grip may be the first sign that a child needs a bit of extra help.
